Job Description
Lawrence Berkeley National Lab’s (LBNL ) Materials Sciences (MSD ) Division has an opening for a Energy Materials Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team (PI: Haegyum Kim )
Berkeley Lab is building a solid-state battery team to develop a high energy and long-lasting Li battery system. In this role, you will prepare solid electrolyte and active buffer layer and conduct structure characterizations after/during electrochemical test to understand how the active buffer layer stabilizes the interface between solid electrolyte and Li metal anode. In addition, you will develop cathode-carbon composite for high performance solid-state batteries.
What You Will Do:
-
Synthesize and prepare solid electrolytes and active buffer layers.
-
Synthesize of cathode-carbon composite electrodes.
-
Conduct electrochemical measurement of solid-state battery cells.
-
Perform in situ/ex situ characterizations to understand how the active buffer layer functions and degradation mechanisms of the cathode composite.
-
Assist with writing reports and peer-reviewed papers.
What is Required:
-
Successful candidates must have a Ph. D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field by the commencement of employment.
-
Experience in solid-state battery fabrication and testing.
-
Experience in structure/morphology characterization for battery materials.
-
Experience with inorganic synthesis and characterizations.
-
Experience in electrochemistry.
Desired Qualifications:
-
Experience in structure and morphology characterization using FIB-SEM and TEM is strongly preferred but not essential.
-
Experience in using a Sputtering machine for metals is strongly preferred.
